Changes for Disney!

What it Means to Interliners in 2016!!

There are several changes for Disney Cruises in 2016 which will have an impact for interliners wanting to sail in Disney Cruises.

Disney Cruises will have a ship sailing from Miami in 2016. Then in late 2016 the ship moves to sail from San Juan, with more Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking crew, and the new Latin slant of one of the restaurants, Carioca’s, reflect Disney’s growth in the Latin American market. Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, says that across the Disney business in the last five years there has been “tremendous growth from South America, Brazil in particular.” Miami is a traditional gateway for Latin Americans and a port Disney expects to be sailing from long-term.

The Magic is sailing three-, four-, and five-night Bahamas (Castaway Cay and Nassau or Key West) and Western Caribbean (Cozumel and Castaway Cay or Grand Cayman) cruises from Miami until early January and then repositions to Port Canaveral for three- and four-night Bahamas jaunts.

From May to August, the ship will be back in the Mediterranean again, operating varied cruises from Barcelona and the new homeport of Venice. Some departures visit new destinations in the Greek Isles and Sicily.

When it returns to the Caribbean next fall, it will sail the line’s first San Juan cruises–four seven-night voyages to the southern ports of Grenada, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, and St. Kitts. Then, from October to December, it’s back to Miami for Bahamas and Western Caribbean cruises.

However, Disney interline rates are scarce and not on every sailing. In fact some months there may be no sailings open for the interline rate. Summer and holidays are the least likely time you will find interline rates on Disney Cruises. Also Disney Cruise interline rates are restricted at this time to Commercial Airline employees only and anyone sharing their cabin.

If you are set on sailing on Disney Cruises and espcially if you have a family of 4 or more or going with your extended family, then book early! DO NOT WAIT! The cabins that sleep 4, cabins close together fill up first. Balcony cabins go quickly as do the family cabins. So even if Disney comes out with interline rates on the sailing you want, by the time they do there may only be double cabins left. That means for a family of four, you have to get two cabins and most likely they won’t be near each other.

The wise thing to do for a large family or a big group who want to sail on Disney Cruises is to call InterlineTravel.com at 800 766-2911 and have they book you as early as possible and lock the rate in. Disney like many of the other cruise lines, raises their rates as their ships fill up! So book early, put down the deposit and then, if by chance, before your final payment date comes, Disney does offer an Interline rate, then the Disney agents at InterlineTravel.com can try to convert your cabin to the interline rate.
