Royal Caribbean has 2 ships sailing to Alaska in 2016. They are the Explorer of the Seas and the Radiance of the Seas.
The Explorer of the Seas sails for 7 nights roundtrip from Seattle from May 20 to Sept. 9, 2016 and stops in Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm and Victoria.
She also does a 5 night on May 15 from Vancouver to Seattle stopping in Ketchikan and Prince Rupert.
The Radiance of the Seas sails for 7 nights from Vancouver to Seward from May 20 to Sept. 2, 2016 and she stops in Ketchikan, Icy Strait, Juneau, Skagway and Hubbard Glacier on the northbound and does the reverse itinerary on the southbound sailings.
For the most part, Royal Caribbean attracts a wide variety of North American passengers, mostly between the ages of 30 and 55 on the seven night cruises, and 50 and over on cruises longer than seven nights. Seven-night and shorter cruises are also popular with families, especially during American school vacation periods, when the ships will often be filled to every upper berth.
The 90,000-ton, 2,500-passenger Radiance of the Seas built in 2001 is the biggest Royal Caribbean ship that can fit through the Panama Canal. While it lacks the indoor promenade, ice rink and some other Voyager/Freedom-class features, it does offer some of the most elegant interiors at sea. Unique features include the Colony Club, an elegant, British Colonial-themed nightclub that includes the world’s first stabilized, seagoing billiard tables.
The Explorer of the Seas is slightly smaller than the Freedom-class ships, the Voyager-class ship is very similar in design and carry most of the same amenities.
The smart casual dress code is the next step up from casual and Royal Caribbean defines it as, “jackets and ties for men, dresses or pantsuits for women.” For men, you swap out the polo shirts for collared shirts and add a jacket with tie. For women this can be more formal dresses or pant suits.
Interline rates on Royal Caribbean to Alaska are open now. The rates may go up or down or even be closed out depending on how the ship fills up. Our advice in 2016 is to book early as it appears Alaska will be the hot destination this summer over Europe due to the terrorists attacks in Paris and Istanbul.
Interline rates on Royal Caribbean are valid for commercial and cargo airline employees plus CRS employees, their spouses, dependent children under 21, retirees of the airlines, parents of the employee and anyone sharing the cabin. To book contact InterlineTravel.com at 800 766-2911 or book on their website, no booking fees either way!
