Save Money Before You Get On Your Cruise!

I recently had the pleasure of sailing on the Celebrity Equinox on a 12 day Eastern Mediterranean cruise to the Greek Islands, Turkey, Italy and Malta. This itinerary is truly a trip of a lifetime and I will go into greater detail in forth coming articles.

This time my purpose is to inform travelers regarding transfers from the Barcelona airport to the cruise port. It is a short 20 minute trip. According to the front desk person at the hotel (I went in a day early) the taxi service is about E30 which translates to about $40 USD. This is a flat rate, not per person, for 2-4 people it is the best deal. I didn’t do this but for 2 a great deal for 4 maybe a little tight.

The cruise line rate is $30-32 one way. The down side is you wait around the airport until everyone is there and the motor coach is filled. If you are the nervous type and like a seamless transition then this is the way to go. I had booked an option with Celebrity that picked us up at the airport, did a 4 hour panorama tour of Barcelona then dropped us off at the pier. This is a wonderful option if you are not going in a day or two early. It is also available at the end of the cruise if your flight is leaving later. By the time we got to the ship, the lines were gone, we walked right up to a check in person and right onto the ship. The cabins were ready and we were off exploring this beautiful vessel. Look for future articles about Barcelona, the Celebrity experience, the BW Hotel Alfa and the itinerary. Happy Cruising
