Staying healthy on the go has become an imperative. Travelers are less willing to sacrifice their workout routines while on vacation, knowing that the benefits are too substantial to let go of, and most understand the rule of momentum. Bodies in motion stay in motion. So if you stop working out while you are on a trip, studies show that it is harder to get back into a routine.

Here are a few tips to ensure you do not lose momentum.
Pack workout gear, always. You will need your equipment to work out. If you forget, some hotels will have loaner pairs (and, seriously, yuck) so that alone is an incentive to remember to bring your good sneaks.
Use Your Membership Privileges. Many gyms have a national presence or a reciprocal arrangement. Look for hotels convenient to your gym if you cannot forego that SoulCycle session.

Alcohol is tempting, but usually a bad idea. We all know that hydration is key to avoiding jet lag. Alcohol is a quick way to dehydrate and stress the body.
You pay for it, might as well use it. Many hotels and motels realize that business travelers these days do not just want to sit around and order expensive room service. For instance, the Hilton Hotel now offers “health-fit rooms” which have exercise equipment inside the room.
Consider Classes Some hotel gyms usually offer current strength training and cardio equipment and sometimes even have personal training as well as yoga and spinning classes.
In a pinch – many workout videos are not videos anymore – they are streaming, and on demand so your yoga practice can come with you on your iPad. Some hotels even offer a sync from your phone or tablet to the larger television in your room.
Your workout need not be on hold while you travel. With a little forethought and attention, you will stay on track and won’t lose a single Fitbit step.
