Working as a crew member often mean grabbing a bite between flights and that means some airport food. So what to eat and where? Each month we will review a couple of airports and give you some hints on which locations are worth your time and money to visit and which restaurants offer you a airline employee discount and who might also allow you to call in your orders in advance and pick them up as you fly through!
But we also want to hear from you! Do you have a favorite airport restaurant? Tell us so we can pass the word in future issues on the NonRevTraveler! Email us at reviews@nonrevtraveler.com with your airport restaurant suggestions!
This month we look at dining in Nashville and Las Vegas!
Dining at the Nashville Airport (BNA)
Let’s be honest, there are much better dining options in Nashville than at the airport. If you have the chance, eat before you go to the airport or after you leave the airport.
BUT if your only option is grabbing something to eat at the airport there are some fairly decent options. Here is my pick for the 6 places to check out when you come to Music City.
Noshville Delicatessen: This longstanding local staple serves items such as Matzah Ball soup, Reubens and burgers, as well as a solid breakfast. And you can choose between a large sit down restaurant area or their grab-and-go counter, which is nice. [A/B Food Court].
Whitt’s Barbecue, Looking for some Tennessee BBQ before you leave town? Check out this ‘Nashville tradition,’ this one since 1978. [Concourse C near Gate C-7]
Gibson Cafe: A large cafe area featuring Gibson Guitar-themed memorabilia and music, its got a full bar (score!), food from Provence Breads & Cafe and the last Tennessee outpost of Neely’s Barbecue. [Concourse C near Gate C-20]
Hissho Sushi: If a sushi craving hits you, head to this relative newcomer for a selection of starters, sushi and hot plates. [Near Concourse C Food Court]
La Hacienda: The much-loved Nashville institution posts up at BNA, serving their take on traditional Mexican cuisine. [Concourse A near Gate A-3]
Blue Coast Burrito: Here is your chance to devour a giant burrito before you leave the Music City. The popular Tennessee-based chain also has tacos, salads, quesadillas and more. [Concourse C Food Court]
Dining at the Las Vegas McCarren Airport is limited when compared to what awaits you on the Strip, just minutes away. If you can wait, get to the strip where the options really are limitless.
If not then here are our favorite spots for airport dining at LAS.
Las Vegas ChopHouse & Brewery: A steakhouse in the middle of Terminal 3! Crab cakes, salmon filet mignon and sirloins make the menu. [Terminal 3 between Gates E8 and E9]
Metro Pizza: Your best bet at D Gates is grabbing a slice from this Vegas stalwart. Find an abbreviated version of the menu at the restaurant’s other locations across the valley. [Between Gates D34 and D36]
The Village Pub: This restaurant serves up beer-battered fish and chips, fried chicken, appetizers, sandwiches, soups, salads and hand-crafted beers from Vegas. [Terminal 3 near Gate E14]
Moe’s Southwest Grill: You can sit down at this Southwestern restaurant [next to gate A15]
PGA Tour Grill: Find heart-healthy dishes broken down into golf terminology sections. Golf-themed cocktails and PGA events and tournaments are also part of the package. [across from Gate E3]
